Hi, y'all! It is official. Gracie is our daughter! However, we need to stay in Wuhan for a few more days so her Chinese passport can be processed.
Yesterday, our tiny family ventured out to the supermarket. We received many looks and some smiles from the locals. No "fashion police" hasseled us about our baby not being covered so we must have had her dressed properly. The "fashion police" do exist. The elderly Chinese ladies tend to frown on parents that do not keep infants' arms and legs covered no matter the temperature.
Big news this morning -- Daddy changed his first poopy diaper - EVER! He completed the task expertly with a little assist from Mommy. He thought he might pass out from the smell, but managed to keep it together!
Gracie is a good natured baby. She only fusses when she is either hungry, tired or needs a clean diaper. We are truly blessed. She is a sweet, curious baby. She is quite routine oriented; her feeding and napping schedule were given to us by the orphanage and we find that she strictly adheres to it! Here are some photos of her first nap and first bath and a cute one we took this morning.
We thank everyone so much for your prayers. God is good and greatly to be praised!

Jeff, Charlene & Grace,
It does my heart good to see pictures of your family (finally!) Many prayers have been going out on your behalf from the Wilsons. What a beautiful smile your Grace has...and you got to see it so soon after Gotcha! Congratulations also on that diaper...we had to wait way too long for our first. Much love to you all. Cherish every moment.
I feel so moved by Grace Rose's sweet smile! You can see from her smile she is so happy with mom and dad around her! I guess she has been waiting for the day to come for a long time just like you guys do, and finally she can lay hersefe in mom's arms and dad's shoulders. I am so happy for mom and dad too. You guys have a such adorable little Grace, see her smile, watch her first step, hear her first word.... enjoy the happiness.
Love you all
Qiong
Hi Kids--
What a darling you have. I look forward each day to check for your next blog and pics. It seems like that first 24 hrs. was all you three needed to bond. And, I'm real proud of you Jeff. Not every dad will change a poopy diaper!! You three just look like you were meant to be together. I guess God had his plan mapped out for you. Give that precious baby a kiss from Aunt Carolyn.
Love You
OOOHHHH!!!! How sweet she looks in the pictures of today. She looks so cute. Congratulations on your little girl & your first poopy diaper!! Woohoo!!. I've been checking everyday to see your pictures. I know God has special plans for little Grace. She was placed with a special mommy & daddy. --Laura
Wow! These are great pictures! All these "firsts"! .... and to get them all documented in pictures! Grace wasn't even fussing in the tub like so many children do... She is so comfortable w/you two, it's amazing!! Peaceful sleep and a very happy smile when awake... you can't beat that for a smooth transition! She's a very darling baby. Anxious each day to see the pictures and read what you have to say... God truly gives us many wonderful blessings!
Love you, Ma
Congrats...my wife was fawning over how cute she is.
Jeff I can't believe you got through the diaper change. How many times did you wash your hands after?
The smiles on your faces shows how happy you guys are and is only eclipsed by the smile beaming from Grace.
Congratulations Jeff and charlene! The pictures of the sights there are amazing but nothing compared to Grace. I'm catching up on the blog and am overcome. What a blessing for all 3 of you. Way to go on the diaper changes...there's certainly more to come on that! Grace is just adorable! Love to you all!!
This is the first blog experience of my life, and I can't imagine starting off any better - the happiness, love, and emotions must be incredible for you all!
It is amazing to see the pictures of the Great Wall of China, all the work it took to build it. I've heard it can even been seen from space.
But the pictures of Grace with her new family are far more impressive on every level! She seems so very sweet, you guys must be very excited about your future together.
You couldn't have picked a better name. The Grace of God is the ultimate gift, what a fitting namesake.
I can't wait to see her in person! You all are in my prayers. Travel safe.
CONGRATULATIONS!
We love the pictures. She looks so huggable. We are even more anxious for August to come so we can meet/hold her! Take care, have fun, and have a safe flight back.
She looks so adorable! I am so happy for you guys and look forward to seeing you guys getting back.
Charlene & Jeff,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and precious pictures along this journey to get Grace. You make a beautiful family! She is truly a blessing from God-and how blessed she is to have YOU as parents. She is a little doll!
We love you!
